Electrical Controls Engineer

Location: Kokomo, IN

Business Purpose: The purpose of this Role is to provide electrical/electronic control engineering technical support to Manufacturing and Maintenance. Assist in the implementation of approved projects or modifications to manufacturing or facility equipment and the resolution of equipment control problems. The primary focus will be the hot rolling mill and two cold rolling mills

Education: Required Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Electrical Engineering Technology; Computer and PLC Control Training and Electrohydraulic computer programming.

Experience: : 3-5 Years in industrial mill control/electronic control systems; AC /DC Motor Drives and Tuning, Electro-hydraulic controls, CAD drafting and PLC control system programming/installation

Areas of Knowledge: Rolling Mill Control, VME Based Control System programming, Industrial electronics, A/B Control Logics, PLC Proficiency and Programming, Digital and analog controls, Electrical Troubleshooting, Servo and proportional control electrohydraulic, Power Distribution and Facility Engineering.

Skills: Troubleshooting, Technical Writing, Computer Operation, Communication, Print Reading, Project Management and CAD Drafting.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures including, the LOTO program, PPE, confined space, arc flash, high voltage, and environmental issues.
  • Assist Maintenance in troubleshooting electrical control problems. Take the lead on control issues involving the Rolling Mills.
  • Assist Project engineers with preliminary and construction engineering as directed.
  • Maintain electrical drawings and documentation manually and digitally.
  • Design or redesign electrical circuits, controls, PLC programs, and computer controls as directed.
  • Assist Maintenance with equipment upgrades, control modifications, and documentation.
  • Develop AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) for Capital projects.
