Business Purpose:
Provide a Technician capable of performing basic level testing duties with some advanced functions, maintaining current and future testing activities with some direct supervision.

Role Qualifications: (Required & Preferred)

High School diploma with some advanced education (R), Associates Degree (P)

High School diploma with some advanced education and 1 year or more of pertinent industrial experience (R), Associates Degree in a technical field and 1 year pertinent experience (P)

Areas of Knowledge:
Safety (R), Sample preparation (P), Chemical Corrosion testing (P), Chemistry (P), Laboratory Workflow (P), High temperature testing (P), Heat treating (P), Calibration & Specification (P) and Metallurgy (P).

Advanced math skills (P), Computer-word processing and spreadsheet (R), Analytical (P), Interpersonal communication (R), Writing (P), follow written procedures (R) and Organizational skills (P)

Specific Accountabilities for the Role:

Communication - Effectively and clearly communicate and contribute personal and professional knowledge to enhance skills of others. Be receptive to direction and training necessary to meet the qualifications required for the assigned tasks. Accept feedback in a positive manner and encourage two-way communications for ideas, improvements, and continual feedback. Serve as a role model by attending daily safety meetings and correcting safety concerns when they arise, participating in safety audits and motivating others to achieve results through example and encouragement.

Processes Used - Perform standardized testing and analysis functions in Corrosion and High Temperature Labs considering Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost. These include but are not limited to sample preparation, compiling and posting data, equipment verification, standardized corrosion testing, quality control testing, and specialty testing as assigned. Provide technical support using test equipment within the Corrosion and High Temperature Labs while following established procedures and guidelines. Assist Supervisor and Lead Technicians in developing process and procedural improvements and project activities. Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Cross-functional Relations - Recognize responsibilities based on organizational structure and communicate with the appropriate individuals (persons responsible). Assist Supervisor and Lead Technicians in process/procedural improvement initiatives, maintaining laboratory procedures, equipment, equipment calibration, and training to meet internal/external quality requirement accreditation mandates (NADCAP, ISO, etc.) and industry standards (ASTM, ASM, etc.).
